Eligibility to Join

The following persons are eligible for Full Membership
  • Serving personnel of the Royal Navy. Royal Marines, Women's Royal Naval Services, the Royal Naval Reserve, Royal Marines Reserve, the Women's Royal Naval Reserve, the Commonwealth Naval Forces and their Reserves and serving Nursing Officers and Naval Nurses of the Queen Alexandra's Royal Naval Nursing Service it’s Reserve and the RNXS.
  • Past Officers, Ratings and Other Ranks (of the Forces listed above) who have served for a period of at least two years, or in the case of National Servicemen served for the full service required.Past members of the Voluntary Aid Detachment who have served for a period of at least two years.
  • Army and RAF Personnel who have served in HM Ships or Establishments or RM Units for one year, application to be made whilst in such service.
  • Members of the other Services who have crewed in a Joint Service yacht entered for a major Trans Ocean Race; application to be made within a year of the finish of the race.
  • Civil Servants serving in a post with a direct attachment ot the Royal Navy.
  • All past an present personnel in the Royal Fleet Auxiliary
  • Sea Cadet Corps Officers, Combined Cadet Force (Naval Section) Personnel and both organisations' civilian instructors subject to the following conditions:
    - Application to be made whilst serving in an eligible post
    - Sponsorship by an elected member of the RNSA or a Branch Captain or Chairman
  • RNSA Branches may nominate for election any member of a foreign Navy considered especially deserving of membership.
