General
Located in the historic home of the Royal Navy and in the heart of the Nation’s most important sailing area, the Portsmouth Branch of the RNSA works closely with the Central Office and Hornet Sailing Club to provide facilities and activities in the area for serving and retired members.
The Branch Committee’s role is to ensure that activities are organised and appropriate services are provided for all waterborne disciplines.
Yachting
For Yachtsmen there are establishment yachts to charter and a programme
of racing organised in the Solent and Offshore from Spring to early Autumn
and an active Cruising Group which has several rallies every year and produces Gossip,
a newsletter which is distributed to registered members by email.
There is also the opportunity to take RYA recognised training courses and examinations.
Moorings
The Branch also has several moorings, marina type as well as midstream pontoons
and swinging moorings, available to members at competitive rates. See
www.rnsamoorings.org.uk or click on the the Portsmouth Branch drop down for more details.
Windsurfing
There is an active Windsurfing community including several very experienced Instructors who utilise the Army facilities at Thorney Island. The courses range from complete novices up to advanced level and can also include an introduction to racing.
Dinghy Sailing
Dinghy sailing is mostly concentrated on the Royal Navy Sailing Centre at Whale Island where, as well as a full spectrum of training courses, we run inter establishment racing evenings and RYA Power boat courses.
Branch Membership
All RN and RM personnel serving in the area are deemed to be RNSA Branch Members and are welcome to come and join in our activities.
