Thames Branch News
Thames Valley Branch News
This Branch was formed early in Spring 2008
After the highly successful inaugural luncheon in February the Branch’s next event was a Summer Cocktail party at the Upper Thames Sailing Club in Bourne End on 28 June 2008 by kind permission of the Commodore. The evening was well supported and everybody enjoyed, not only the excellent champagne and canapés but also the lovely weather, the beautiful location and the excellent company! A good cross section of boats was also in evidence ranging from a Dutch Barge through a steam launch and a narrow boat, to a number of GRP motor yachts and motor cruisers of varying sizes.
The Branch Autumn event, in late September was an informal “pay as you go” supper evening at the Thames Court Hotel at Shepperton Lock. The venue was chosen as being more convenient for members based near the lower Thames or in London and, again, the event was much enjoyed by all those who attended. Caroline Soper arranged a very interesting River Thames Quiz with prizes – the men won(!!) - and the quiz entry fees were donated to the Headley Court “Help for Heroes” campaign.
